Accomplishments For Today.

Posted by Bev Darby, Rock n Spheres on 3rd Nov 2016

A very busy day today.  I was able to finish both a Plasma Agate Sphere and a Binthalya Sphere.  I am very pleased with the results of both.

The high speed machine has an African Tiger Eye going that I will finish tomorrow.  Also running is the Indian Blanket Sphere, which is being incredibly difficult and not cooperating at all, and a small plume/moss agate out of Mexico.  I really didn't think much of the plume when I first started working it.  It might have merit after all.  It is hard enough.  The black plumes with the yellow moss is attractive.

The new / used 24" saw is working well.  I have yet to put anything really hard in it.  Currently it is cutting Lepidolite as I no longer have any spheres available.  The other 24" is cutting a Mookaite.  I would like a larger sphere out of this material.  So far so good.

Corners are coming off an Australian Crazy Lace.  This one is particularly nice with red in it.  I am concerned about one area having pits.  The other 18" saw is still down.

My hand grinder died yesterday.  I am crossing my fingers that the replacement comes before the weekend.  There is a Fluorite just waiting to be hand ground.

Next week starts the preparations for the West Coast Gem and Mineral Show.  The dates again are 11/11 thru 11/13. I will be in room 173.  If you are in the area, stop by and visit.
