Baking and Sphere Making

Posted by Bev Darby, Rock n Spheres on 5th Dec 2014

As I was wondering how I was going to continue sphere making and still get all the holiday baking done, I decided I could do it if I bought a saw and a sphere machine into the family room.  When I told my husband of my great idea, a look of pure dread came over his face as if to say I had finally lost my mind.  I still think it's a wonderful idea, but alas, I was vetoed.

So, I shall continue to think about the best way to accomplish both tasks.  In the mean time I have finished cutting the corners off of an impressive piece of Cady Mountain Jasper.  The bright orange cooling is breath taking.  In the saw is a cube of Medicine Bow Plume Agate.  The saws do not like this material.  In my research it seems that the plumes could be either manganese, iron oxide or marcasite.  I have to think marcasite, but will check it out closer with a magnifying glass at some point.

Now I will need to decide what to put in the big saw next……. so many choices, so little time.
