Barrel Diving.

This morning I went barrel diving in my own yard!  Usually this fun activity is reserved for select vendors in Tucson or Quartzsite.  What fun it is.

Let me explain.  There are several vendors that I purchase from that their inventory is in rows of barrels.  It seems as though the best rocks are on the bottom, at least the ones large enough to sphere.  Half of the fun of getting to those amazing pieces is removing all the top ones.  For me to get to the bottom, it always ends up my back end is up in the air.

When we were prepping for our move to AZ, we barreled all our rocks.  It was a multi day endeavor with help from my eldest and his girlfriend.  In all we moved 60 55 gallon drums to Prescott and have 40 in Phoenix at friends.

It is a good thing I catalogued the rocks that came here.  Once they were delivered, I mapped out where each of the number barrels were place.  (The moving guys baulked at placing them in the correct numbered rows.)

This morning we pulled from various barrels for things I have a hankering to work on.  I was tickled to reacquaint myself with the remains of the Chariote we purchased years ago.  Alan was pleased to see so much of retirement investment into the business was left.  It certainly wasn't that I ever paid him back.  LOL.

I had forgotten how much Magnetite in Jade I had purchased from Joyce.  This material makes beautiful spheres and have pulled 3 pieces out of their home.  From the Stoddard Wells are north of Victorville, this material is difficult to find.  It took 2 years for me to get Joyce to sell what little she had.

Then there is the Marra Mamba from Australia.  It is another difficult material to find.  Looking at my map, it is stored in 4 different barrels.  We were lucky to find the mother load on the first try.  The boulders in this barrel are all over 100 pounds each so it took some maneuvering to get one out.

I must admit, it was like Christmas morning....
