Day Trip

Yesterday we went for a drive. We have this book that describes 40 scenic drives in Arizona and plan to take them all at some point. Yesterdays was a trip from Wikiup to Wikenburg. It goes right past Burro Creek.
Now we have rock hounded at Burro Creek many times with our mentors Jim and Louis decades ago. The last time we went, I think the boys were 10 and 12. It was on Jim's bucket list to go back once he got sick and we never made it. :-( We decided to see if we could find it into the canyon.
It is amazing how much you forget over the years. We went in the long way which we seldom did with J&L. The drive is very long, but the road was decent. We actually saw a wild burro. The first for us here. The creek has water running which was surprising with the drought going on.
As we did not expect to drive in, we had nothing for rockhounding. We were also very careful as we had not told anyone where we were going. One thing J&L always stressed was to never go off road without someone knowing where you were going to be and when to expect you out. Good advice.
The canyon was as beautiful as remembered. I can't wait to ge back!
Thanks for reading.......
