First Quarter of 2015

Posted by Bev Darby, Rock n Spheres on 14th Mar 2015

Have to say this has not been the most productive quarter I have ever had.  Between buying and selling, I have not been home much.  Unfortunately when I am home, I have to go into work.  An example:  I have not had a show since last weekend and now I find myself having to go into work for 8 out of 10 days.  YUK!  All I really want to do is cut rock and polish spheres.  Enough whining.

I am currently starting to cut Sumatra Jasper.  Once again I only have one boulder.  The goal will be to get 2 spheres out of it.  I am crossing my fingers on that.  My first cut showed me dark red jasper with an intriguing black pattern.  I hope the fractures I see on the out side do not go all the way through.

The 7 color fluorite material from Jose Lopez is as beautiful as he described it.  Will be excited to see it sphered.

I am still having difficulties deciding what to cut next.  I expect this to continue until I have worked my way through much of the material I bought this winter.

I hope to finish the last 2 Pinolith Spheres this week.  I do not think I'll be able to get any spheres out of the smaller boulder I have of this.  The Norwegian Thulite and Noble Serpentine are also ready to be rounded.  Looking forward to next weekend!
