Happy Valentines Day!
It has been an eventful day so far. I spent the better part of the morning at the DMV. Alan had ordered RCKNSPHR license plates when we got the new Jeep. To get them you have 30 days to pick them up at the DMV of their choice. Such an experience. It is almost as good as Walmart to people watch.
The first of 2 Dead Camel Jasper spheres are on the sphere machine. Wow is this stuff tough! I expect it will be long grinding times for this. It would take a stunning polish. The second is waiting to have the corners ground off. I missed my morning window (DMV) but hope to get to it in the AM. The second has more of the brown "blobs" and a little less blue than the first, but is larger.
I am almost ready to start the cubes of Lapis Lace. I am super impressed with this material. Its blue! Alan knocked off some cabs of it. The polish is amazing. It will be a fast work as it is a softer material.
The dendritic Opal will not be sphering material. It has too many vugs and mud pockets on the inside. All 3 boulders will end up being slabbed. :-( It is most unfortunate. The dendritic patterns are lovely.
Waiting for the saw parts to arrive. Once again! I'm not sure if it would be any better if we had all new equipment. The goal this year will be to start building our own spare part supply. The hope is to not have to wait for the pieces we need.
So what to cut next? I continuously walk back and forth in front of the pile of new acquisitions and am stumped as to the next one. Suggestions?
