Jade Mountain, Alaska

Had to believe the US has a mountain of Jade.  You must be willing to go the arctic circle to see it.  North of Ambler and east of Kotazebue, it would be a difficult trek.  The material is stunning but difficult to photograph.  I ended up needing to put finger prints on it so the camera could focus.  Jade has a really long grind time and the saws struggle to cut it, but is well worth the effort.  I have some British Colombia and some black Wyoming Jade I should get into the saws.....

Today could very well be a polishing day.  There are 3 waiting on the shelf.  The Hematite with Chrysocolla will be first.  I love this stuff!  It should take a beautiful polish and even with its blemishes should turn out beautiful.  Then there is a golden amphibolite.  I have decided if I like this better than the Lions Skin or not.  both are striking.  Last is an Ocean Breeze (should be named Autumn Breeze). The colors remind me of Autumn in the Midwest.  Lots of gold in this one.

Coming up through the ranks are some Chrysocolla, Turkish Stick Agate, another Golden Amphibolite.  The saws are cutting a small Charoite, and Spirit Stone.

Should be a busy day.  Thanks for reading......
