Never a Good Thing

It really is never a good thing when I have to drive through Quartzsite, Az this time of year.  Most of my favorite vendors are set up there.  It does significant damage to my pocket book!

First of all there is Glen.  This year he had large enough pieces of his Dendritic opal that should make awesome spheres.

Then there is Himeer.  His material from India is spectacular this year.  The Zebra Jasper looks spectacular.  Also purchased more Sumatra jasper and some killer Bloodstone.  I am most excited about the one piece of Spinel in matrix that I found.

Of course there is the additional 120 pounds of Eudialite that I just had to have.  I do believe that I have paid for all of Bill's expenses for his stay in Desert Gardens.

John had the gorgeous Silver Eye Serpentine.  I got to be the very first person to pick through the crate when he opened it.  It looks like it will make stunning spheres.  I got to pick through his old stock Ocean Jasper.  Unfortunately there was only one sphere sized piece.  It is waiting for a ride back to LA.

Bruce delivered more Barite to me at the Flagg Show in Mesa.  He is a big cabber and was surprised at the polish I was able to get on the sphere I had completed.  He said he has not been able to get more that a dull sheen. (rubbing my knuckles on my shirt).

The down side to all of this is that most of these beauties are still sitting in Quartzsite.  The truck was packed to the brim with show gear.  The only reason I was able to bring home the Barite, dendritic opal,Noble serpentine, zebra and spinel was that I had dropped Alan off at the airport in Phoenix before leaving for home.  Significantly more weight than Alan, but it stacked nicely on the floor of the passenger seat.

Now if the rain would stop and I could get them all out and start cutting, I would be one very happy woman.  The pipeline to the sphere machines is completely dry.
