Peanuts.

I am continuing to work up the peanut obsidian.  Many get upset with the name this material was given.  It is really perlite with feldspar crystals that some have been coated with hematite.  I have nothing to do with the name that was given to it in the 60's when it was first discovered.  If you ever look to buy it by looking for what it really is, well, good luck with that.

As this is not the most stable of materials, it likes to pop out a few feldspar crystals while both in the saw and during the rough grind process.  It has been suggested to me to find the "eyes" that have come out and glue them back in place.  I somehow can not see myself sifting through the muck at the bottom of the saw looking for tiny little eyes.  Also I am terrible with glue.  I manage to glue my fingers better that what I am actually trying to stick together.

I have been cutting the original material.  That's the black matrix with the orange eyes.  We will see if it has the same issues.

The moral of all this is.......  Expect "craters" in the peanut obsidian spheres.
