Rock Day.

Posted by Bev Darby, Rock n Spheres on 5th Dec 2016

Finally a day to do nothing but rocks.  The house has had a mayor cleaning.  All the rock specimens that cover every available space have been cleaned and packed up.  The decorations for the holidays are now taking every available space.  All that is left before the baking starts is a tree.  The lots here do not have theirs yet so that leaves me with a full day available.

The pipeline is fairly empty.  There is a larger Plasma Agate sphere on the high speed machine that should finish today.  The Ludlow Thulite that is some ones holiday gift is almost round.  I am not sure the large Mookaite is going to hold together during what will be a very long grinding process.  I might have to go into the partially finished pieces that came with the used sphere machine to look for something worth while to work on.

There are a lot of cubes cut.  Lepidolite, Mookaite, Indian Paint Stone, and more.  I am hoping all the saws will keep running.   Need slabs for the up coming shows.

Being cut now are some material that came out of the Fontana Mine area near Desert Center, Ca.  This is a Bert Mystery rock that I'm not sure if the material has ever had a name.  It is highly metallic with green.  Should be a huge challenge and will probably take ages to get it round.  The saw was not too happy about it.  Alan is getting his Snow Flake Obsidian cubed.  I keep making him one and then sell it.  This may be the one he gets to keep.

Our next show is the Flagg show at the Mesa, AZ community College,  January 6, 7, and 8.  Then comes the Quartzsite Pow Wow January 18 through the 22nd.  Then it is off to Tucson on January 25th for buying the next round of material to make spheres.  The beginning of 2017 looks to be very busy.

Well, it is 6:15.  Time to head to the garage.  Thanks for reading....
