Sphere Making, A Passion!

Sphere Making, A Passion!

Why couldn't I like to make cabochons like everyone else?

My husband says because I'm clumsy when it comes to making small things.  I guess I've always liked BIG machines!

When trying to come up with a name for my new endeavor, my kids (and that same husband) thought Bev's Balls would be appropriate, but some how that sounded to porn-ish for my tastes.  Rock n Spheres was the choice for me.

Back to the spheres.  When we first started lapidary as a hobby, spheres were not on the scene.  You saw lots of rough rock, cabs and polished slabs.  As spheres started showing up in the marketplace, I was immediately thrilled and had to be able to make them for myself.  There is just something about to smooth surface of a sphere that gives a sense of completeness.  It shows more beauty of the rock!

In order to keep making spheres, I have had to find this outlet.  My walls of the house are bowing out as it can not hold another sphere.  Its great to meet all the fine individuals who are Rock Fanatics like us.

More to come, follow along!  Finished these lovelies today.
