The Long Grind.

I have not been very productive this month.  The chain of product to finish has slowed down.  As I have been working on Carrasite, The grind times are incredibly long.  I have only managed to get one round.  It is still not finished.  The diamond on my 3.5" cups was used up causing large scratches.  Of course those are the only cups that I did not have backups for.  Now I wait for the new cups.  In the mean time, there are 4 machines rough grinding Carrasite preforms.

Carrasite is an interesting material.  The different colors are of a different hardness.  To keep the preforms moving in different planes requires constant monitoring and adjustments.  Machines must be turned off if I go into the saw room next door.  The material likes to chip if there is chattering on the machines.  I have used a large amount of red fingernail polish on this material.  The color variations of this material will make this all well worth it.

I have been preforming Pink Lady Agate from Grave Yard Point.  Another hard material, but will also be well worth the challenges it presents.  I love being able to look "inside" a sphere.  This material is that kind.  Bright white, orange and marcasite plumes rise up from a clear agate background.  This material should take an amazing polish.

Happy Holidays to all......
