Too Hot For the Garage
Posted by Bev Darby, Rock n Spheres on 21st Jul 2016
It HOT. I think it is that way across the nation. Once the garage gets above 95 degrees, I have to retreat to the house. This morning that happened at 10:30. How crazy is that? Its only supposed to get worse over the weekend.
I did manage to finish the Coral Reef Amethyst Sphere. The color is amazing and it has a Tasmanian Devil dancing on it. The downsize is the material has many pits.
I have many to get started that are round. Many small Sonoran Dendritic Rhyolite, 2 Washington Serpentine, 2 black jade with Magnetite, and another Chariote. Hope to get them started tomorrow.
I started cutting my other boulder of the Sonoran Dendritic Rhyolite. It has even more blue that the first one. One more cut and I will have my cube!
Just had to slab up some of the new plume agate from the Cadys. It has the most beautiful white plumes. Have even started to flat lap one of the pieces. The stuff is really hard so it should take a nice polish.
In the final saw is Stick Agate. The sphere will be small. John Rowland beat me out for all the big pieces in Tucson. Tried to talk him out of one large boulder, but he wouldnt have none of it. It looks like it will have great potential.
