Whittier Show

All packed and ready to go! Today is set up for the Whittier Show at the Whittier Convention Center, 7630 Washington Ave, Whittier, Ca. Last year was our first year at the show. It is small but a sweet one. Like so many rock clubs, the members are getting really old with no new members joining, not sure how much longer they will be around. It is sad to see clubs falling apart for just this reason.
Despite packing up, I was still able to finish a few spheres yesterday. I haven't had time to photograph them yet. Probably won't happen until Monday. The small Wingate is finished. Alan must now decide which one he wants to keep. His is 4.1 inches in diameter but does not have much red color. The one I just finished is 2.6 inches in diameter and is much more colorful. Either way, the large one needs to be refinished as my new process creates a much better polish compared to when I was just using grit. Also finished were a Graves Mountain and a Coquina sphere.
I was disappointed to see that I will only get one Stichtite cube out of the material I picked up in Joshua Tree. A very large fracture opened up in the second half of the rock.
There are 2 very different types of Bumble Bee Jasper being readied to cube. Corners are coming off of a stichtite and a "Cam" jade. I'm not sure I will have his spheres finished next month to give him at the show in Santa Anna. I am going to put "share spheres" on hold until after the new year to ready for the Tucson show.
My list of what I would like to work on for that show is growing, Charoite, Bumble Bee, Magnetite in Black jade, Norwegian Thulite and Swedish Eudialite to name a few. As I walk around the rock piles, it can become a daunting decision as to what to put in the saw next.
I think I will turn on some sphere machines now. Have a couple of hours of me time. Thanks for reading........
