The name Mookaite is derived from the Aboriginal word, Mooka, or running waters. This is the name of the creek by where it was first found in the Kennedy Ranges, near Gascoyne Junction in Western Australia. A combination of chert, opal item and chalcedony, it can contain the colors of red, purple, tan, white, ivory, pink, gold, black and yellow. Some say it relieves stress and tension and counter acts the negative effects of emotional trauma.
